Career Fitness Test

To measure how physically fit you are, you measure body weight, BMI, blood pressure, etc. But how do you measure how happy or fit you are in your career? We have devised this simple career fitness questionnaire to evaluate how fit your career is right now. Read each question carefully and tally how many you marked yes. There are 30 questions and should take about 10 minutes to give you an indicator of your career fitness.
- I am satisfied in my career.
- I enjoy going to work every day or most days.
- I am well connected with my coworker.
- I have a good manager and we get along.
- I know what I want for my next role.
- I know my strengths and weaknesses.
- I can articulate my skills.
- I know what skills need to develop and grow.
- I have identified my values.
- I am recognized and rewarded for my hard work.
- I stay current with what's happening in my industry.
- I volunteer for special projects at work or outside of work that help me grow.
- I am part of a professional association that helps me develop and grow.
- I maintain a career development plan.
- I check-in on my career on a weekly or monthly basis.
- I have 3–5 career goals written down.
- I have an up-to-date resume, cover letter, portfolio, etc.
- I attend networking events, workshops, and conferences.’
- I have a solid elevator pitch.
- I have a mentor and/or I mentor people.
- I have developed responses to common interview questions and practiced interviewing skills.
- I actively seek feedback.
- I follow career blogs and resources to help me constantly learn.
- I have references I can rely on that I stay connected with.
- I have taken career assessments to help me better understand my personality.
- I am a strong communicator and prepare well for important meetings and talks.
- I reflect often on my career moments.
- I have been promoted in the last 3 years.
- I feel fairly compensated for the job I am doing.
- I am present and mindful at work.
